Lyrics

I passed a mission on the corner of King and Commerce Avenues.
Spray Paint on the door saying, “If you’re in need, we’ll be happy to share with you.”
I was looking for a church cause I gotta rehearse, See my big day is drawing near.
And though I brought my book with the good directions, the way don't seem too clear. I think there oughtta be a sign, but I can’t find the church,
I’m searching for that holy ground but Can’t find the church,
Seems it’s no where to be found
I think there oughtta be a sign, but I can't find the church.

Many fine people, were happy to show me, where they thought I was needing to go.
But there were bars on the doors and
Stain glass windows that cost more than a country home.
And when I walked inside, there were TV cameras Trained on a man selling hope.
And though the ivory aisles were filled with smiles, there was nobody there that I know. I guess I gotta be blind cause, I can’t find the church,
I’m searching for that holy ground but Can’t find the church,
Seems it’s no where to be found
I guess I gotta be blind, cause I can't find the church.

How long can this go on? I seems like every right turn is wrong,
And the only place that feels like home Is on this dead end street..

I asked a bum at the door why he was here at this mission,
He said, “Buddy can’t you read the sign?
You just open this door, you’ll find so much more
Than what’s painted there in black and white.”
I said, “I’m lookin for a church cause I gotta rehearse.”
He said, “I know, I’ve seen you drivin around…
So won’t you step on in and then tell me friend, Are you lost…or just not found?
You just open the door and then, You might find the church.
If you’re searchin for that holy ground, but can’t find the church,
If it’s nowhere to be found,
You just open the door and you might see, We’re happy to share if you’re in need
You just look inside and you might find the church.
You just open your heart and you might find…”

I found a mission on the corner of King and Commerce Avenues…
